In early June my sister ran in the San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon. This marathon is the 3rd largest in the US and has bands playing for the runners every mile or so. This was the first time Natalie ran a marathon (we did a half marathon together a few years ago).

The route ended up going by her apartment complex at mile 20, so Bill and I hung out there waiting for Nat to pass us. We were there early and had a blast cheering on the runners as they went by. Finally Nat and her friends Leslie and Colette made it to "The Wall" on a very hot day and we ran with them for a while to pick up their spirits. Then at mile 22 the group was met by their friend Heather and she finished the race with them, helping them through those really tough final few miles.
