A couple of weeks ago I got an email from one
Grahame Geoffrey Frasier regarding a little
visit he was thinking about making to the San Francisco Bay area. He wanted to know if
I would sign up as a tour guide and make his short business trip to Sacramento worth while.
Even though I have only lived up here about a year, I still figured I could impress this
Massachusetts born and bred hockey nut who has never been west of the Mississippi, so I
took the job.
Grahame flew out to Sacramento on Friday night and we agreed to meet in San Francisco the
following day about noon time. That day just so happend to be the day that I did the
March of Dimes WalkAmerica
and had a hangover from hell. After the walk I drove right up to the city and met Grahame at
Gordon Biersch
brewery at the base of the Bay Bridge. He was already in heaven when I found him;
He had a good microbrew in hand, had a beautiful view of the bridge and he didn't seem to be too
upset with the way the waitress looked either. Then we jumped in "ABES MR2", tooks off the t-tops
and began a 10+ hour mega tour of one of the coolest cities on the planet.
Enjoy the pics! Please email me if this takes too long to
load and I'll split it up into chunks.
First stop: Fisherman's Wharf at Pier 39. More sealions than
you can shake a stick at.
Here is our hero Grahame on the west coast for the first
time.
Grahame with his Mapleleaf's hat and Lacrosse shirt (what's
up with that?) with "The Rock" in the background.
A little north of Pier 39 we walked around Ghirardelli
Square. Grahame picked up some chocolates for the women in his life.
Across from the Square are these steps where we watched
some insane guys swimming in the 50 degree water. Also some ships back there but don't ask
me what they are.
Trying to get to the Exploratorium (sp?) we got trapped
on Lombard coming out of the yacht club and ended up on the Golden Gate Bridge sooner than
we planned.
After a quick bridge sightseeing tour, we got to the
Exploratorium (a museum where you can play with stuff). This is one of the big structures
on the grounds.
This was a display from a balance artist. He said that
there is no glue or other attachments used and that he couldn't do some of his cooler stuff because
it was too windy. Weird dude.
Grahame's first cable car. The people are looking at us
funny because Grahame was standing up through the t-tops to take this picture as we drove
by.
Nice shot of the TransAmerica building in downtown
San Francisco.
Another quality photo by Grahame through my roof. This
is the most curvey street in the world - Lombard street.
Grahame didn't want to leave before seeing some real
weirdos so where else would you go but the corner of Haight and Ashbury.
Grahame getting his feet wet in the Pacific Ocean for
the first time.
Your tour guide himself and his trusty tour bus -
"ABES MR2".
Well, that's it. Thanks Grahame for sending me the pictures! Hope to see you out here
sometime again soon!
